Class Description
Ready to create your own music? In this class, you’ll learn how to make awesome beats using the same Pro Tools software that your favorite artists use. You’ll discover how to build cool drum patterns, craft catchy bass lines, and mix all your sounds together to create your own unique tracks. We start with the basics, so don’t worry if you’ve never made music before—your creativity is all you need! By the end of our sessions, you’ll have your very own original beats to share with friends and family. Join us to turn the music you hear in your head into tracks everyone can enjoy!

- Develop an understanding of rhythm in the context of looping;
- Learn to navigate the basic functions of Avid Pro Tools;
- Gain hands-on experience using samplers for music production;
- Explore MIDI sequencing to compose and refine musical ideas;
- Deepen their appreciation for music through active engagement;
- The art of the peer critique and give peer critiques on the progress of student work;
- Opportunities and potential resources on career pathways;
- How to distribute, exhibit, and promote artwork for a variety of audiences.

Deliverables: Students and Class Projects
- Individually, students will create their own audio project(s) with a focus on using loops and sampling.
- Students will collaborate on a group project focused on community beat-making, using multiple instruments to create a cohesive rhythm and explore teamwork in music production.
