Class Description
It’s time to bring your vision to the screen! In this final session, you’ll dive into the world of post-production. Learn advanced editing techniques, sound design, and color correction to polish your film. You’ll also design a movie poster and prepare for a public screening of your work. By the end of this session, you’ll have a completed short film ready to share with your community and beyond!
Learning Objectives: in this class, students will learn about
- Advanced Editing Techniques – Learn how to organize media, create projects, and navigate the editing interface. Develop skills in importing media, managing bins and sequences, setting up sequence settings, cutting and trimming clips, creating and targeting audio/video tracks, and refining the overall editing workflow.
- Story Generation & Refinement – Explore techniques for selecting and editing the best takes, layering multiple takes in a scene, adjusting audio levels, editing from multiple angles, pacing the narrative, applying transitions, and making final cuts to shape the story effectively.
- Sound Design – Enhance films by adding music and ambient sound, adjusting levels and EQ, performing automated dialogue replacement (ADR), and integrating Foley audio for a richer sound experience.
- Color Correction – Understand the fundamentals of color grading and exposure adjustments using Adobe Premiere to create a cohesive and professional visual tone.
- Marketing, Promotion & Distribution – Learn how to design an eye-catching movie poster, edit an engaging movie trailer, utilize social media for film promotion, and explore distribution strategies to reach a wider audience.
- The art of the peer critique and give peer critiques on the progress of student work;
- Opportunities and potential resources on career pathways;
- How to distribute, exhibit, and promote artwork for a variety of audiences.
