Class Description
Dive into the world of filmmaking! In this introductory session, you’ll learn the fundamentals of storytelling for film and gain hands-on experience with essential filmmaking equipment. Develop your camera operation, lighting, and sound recording skills while crafting compelling stories. By the end of this session, you’ll have created a detailed story outline, storyboards, and a pre-production package for your film project.
Part of a comprehensive filmmaking class for the 2024-2025 afterschool year, this is the first of three sessions that will guide students through the entire filmmaking process, taking them on a creative journey from story development to final screening.
Learning Objectives: in this class, students will learn about:
- The Pre-Production and planning process, including:
- Basic storyboarding and developing a shot list for a video production shoot;
- Using Adobe Premiere video editing software; including:
- Proper file transfer, organization and maintenance;
- Using professional camera and audio equipment; including:
- Different compositions, techniques, and methods for recording video;
- How to use the film medium to create positive messages to the world;
- The art of the peer critique and give peer critiques on the progress of student work;
- Opportunities and potential resources on career pathways;
- How to distribute, exhibit, and promote artwork for a variety of audiences.
