In this 3-day crash course, students will learn about the fundamentals of applying their art skills to character design. This is an important component to a comic, tv show, or movie – methods of conceptualizing and generating these visual designs will be presented in the form of reference sheets and an interactive project. To accommodate all artistic and written skill levels, these projects will be basic in nature but include many advancement opportunities.
In this class, students will
- Understand the function of each of the core components of the reference sheet template (name, turnaround, assets, and other info)
- Learn the history of characters in various media, and how they apply today and in this class
- Have a basis for organizing ideas and building concepts, for characters and beyond
